Life Skills

The content of the programme helps to develop a number of fundamental life skills, these include:

Problem Solving Ability
Self-esteem and Sense of Autonomy
Social Confidence Skills
Purpose in Life

PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Problem solving requires two distinct types of mental skill, analytical and creative.

Having good strong problem solving skills can make a huge difference to a child’s overall development and self-confidence. So, being a confident problem solver is really important to your success. Much of that confidence comes from having a good process to use when approaching a problem allowing problems to be solved quickly and effectively.

The programme helps pupils understand cause and effect, foreseeing the consequences of their actions.

SELF-ESTEEM & SENSE OF AUTONOMY

Self-esteem is used to describe the way individuals think and feel about themselves. In young children its development is heavily influenced by parental attitudes and behaviour.

Children who have high self-esteem have an easier time handling conflicts, resisting negative pressures, making friends and have a generally optimistic view of the world and their life.

The programme helps pupils become reflective and consider the amount of happiness and satisfaction they can bring into their lives by making wise choices.

SELF-ESTEEM & SENSE OF AUTONOMY

To help children understand cause and effect, foreseeing the consequences of their actions.

SOCIAL CONFIDENCE SKILLS

Social competence refers to the social, emotional, and cognitive skills and behaviors that children need for successful social adaptation.

It defines a child’s ability to establish and maintain high quality and mutually satisfying relationships and to avoid negative treatment.

The programme helps pupils develop empathy – having the ability to see and feel from another’s perspective, being caring, sharing and respectful of others.

PURPOSE IN LIFE

This describes a person’s ability to know without explicit guidance the direction in which they are or should be moving.

Whilst young people may not know what career they want or where they want to live – even at a young age they know what makes them feel good and what doesn’t hold much interest for them.

The programme helps pupils to know their purpose in life, to develop their potential and share with the community and the wider world.

A SENSE OF DIRECTION

To help children understand cause and effect, foreseeing the consequences of their actions.
